Software development outsourcing

Outsource software delivery without giving up control.

Galvia provides external software engineering capacity for organisations that need defined delivery, specialist capability or ongoing product work without building another permanent team first. We work with clear ownership, visible delivery and practical handover across web, mobile, cloud, data, APIs and IoT software.

Belfast-based software development outsourcing for organisations across the UK and Ireland.

Outsourcing should add delivery capacity without hiding the software, the decisions or the operational risk from the client.

When this becomes useful

External engineering is useful when delivery capacity is the constraint, not the strategy.

The objective is not to “send development away”. It is to add dependable software capacity while keeping product decisions, technical ownership and business context connected.

01

The roadmap is larger than the internal team

Important work keeps slipping because the existing team is already committed to core operations, support or higher-priority product work.

02

You need a capability you do not want to hire permanently

A cloud, integration, mobile, data, IoT or modernisation workstream needs experienced engineering for a defined period.

03

A supplier or delivery model is changing

You need to move work, stabilise ownership or continue delivery without losing access, knowledge or momentum.

How we start

Choose the delivery model before adding more people.

We clarify what should be outsourced, what the internal team should continue to own and how the engagement needs to operate so software delivery does not become a black box.

  1. 01

    Define the work and ownership

Separate product decisions, architecture, engineering, acceptance and operational ownership so responsibilities are clear.

  2. 02

Set the delivery cadence and access

Agree backlog visibility, repositories, environments, documentation, communication and the path for escalation or handover.

  3. 03

    Deliver a bounded first phase

Start with a defined project, specialist workstream or piece of backlog that can demonstrate how the relationship works in practice.

Galvia can deliver a defined project or provide ongoing engineering capacity. The right model depends on how much product and technical ownership sits inside the client team.

Relevant work

External delivery works best when the client keeps useful ownership.

Galvia's public work includes projects where we have built alongside existing teams, extended established products and handed over maintainable capability rather than treating delivery as a closed supplier process.

PRODUCT ENGINEERING / AUGMENTATION

Stimare: integrated product engineering across mobile and hardware

Galvia delivered a shared SDK, demo application, documentation and hardware integration across Android and iOS, supporting a product team rather than isolating the work from it.

MODERNISATION / HANDOVER

ASM: modernisation with client-team enablement

Galvia moved a freight-customs product toward a browser-based, cloud-ready model and reusable components while enabling the client's own team to continue developing the product.

Talk to the people behind the work

Work with an external team that can explain what it is doing.

Martin and the Galvia team can help define whether you need a bounded outsourced project, ongoing engineering capacity, a specialist workstream or a takeover phase - and what ownership should remain inside your organisation.

What we can take on

Outsource the workstream, not the understanding.

Galvia can take on a defined build or slot into a wider delivery model where the boundaries and ownership are clear.

Defined project delivery

A bounded application, integration, modernisation or product phase with agreed scope, milestones and acceptance.

Ongoing engineering capacity

Senior full-stack capacity for a continuing product or backlog where your organisation retains roadmap and product ownership.

Specialist technical workstreams

API, cloud, data, mobile, IoT or legacy work that needs capability your current team does not have available.

Takeover, stabilisation & continuity

Move work from a departing supplier or inherited codebase into a clearer support and delivery model. See Project Rescue and Legacy Application Support.

Before you enquire

The practical questions.

What is software development outsourcing?

It is using an external engineering partner to deliver some or all of a software workstream. The useful distinction is who owns product decisions, architecture, engineering, operations and the ongoing roadmap.

How is outsourcing different from staff augmentation?

Staff augmentation usually adds people into a client-led team and backlog. Outsourcing can place more delivery responsibility with the external partner for a defined project or workstream. The models can overlap.

Do we keep ownership of our code and systems?

Ownership and access should be agreed explicitly before work begins. We favour delivery models where repositories, environments, documentation and operational knowledge remain clear and portable.

Can Galvia work with our existing development team?

Yes. Galvia can take a specialist workstream, deliver a bounded project or provide capacity alongside internal engineers where responsibilities are clear.

Can you take over work from another supplier?

Yes, but inherited systems often need a short takeover or technical review first so source code, access, deployment, dependencies and immediate risk are understood.

Is Galvia an offshore outsourcing company?

No. Galvia is a Belfast-based software engineering and digital transformation company. We work with UK and international organisations that need external engineering capacity and practical delivery support.

Tell us what needs delivered

Where is software delivery getting constrained?
